Friday spike in cases at 35000 plus; Active COVID-19 cases in India cross 3.6 lakh

India registered more than 35,000 cases on Friday taking the total confirmed COVID-19 tally to 10,405,27. The nation has 3,601,53 active cases as of now while 6,540,79 patients have been recovered so far, according to data from Union Health Ministry. As many as 671 new deaths were reported yesterday taking the total COVID related fatality in the country to 26,295. 

The total confirmed caseload in Maharashtra which is the most affected state until now has 2,925,89 cases. This is followed by Tamil Nadu (1,609,07) and Delhi (1,201,07).

Kerala registered 791 new active cases yesterday taking the tally to 11,066. Of these, 6,029 are active cases. The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said community transmission of has been detected in two coastal hamlets in Thiruvananthapuram. More than 150 cases have been reported each in Poonthura and Pulluvila. The movement of people within these areas will be restricted. Five new containment zones have been declared. All coastal roads in the district have been sealed to check local spread. 

Thiruvananthapuram continued to see a spike in COVID-19 cases with over 300 cases being reported, followed by Ernakulam district and Kollam and Malappuram, according to the State Health Ministry.
