Highest spike in new cases and deaths on Wednesday; India COVID-19 tally crosses 12 lakh

India reported the highest single-day spike of 45,720 COVID-19 cases and 1,129 related deaths on Wednesday. With this, the total number of positive cases confirmed in the country has touched 12,38,635 now and the fatalities were 29,861 in all. 

So far 7,82,607 people have recovered from the infection, showing the country’s recovery rate at 63.18%. With the collection of 3,50,823 samples, the country saw the highest number of samples tested on Wednesday.  According to government data, the total samples tested so far in the country was 1.5 crore. 
Maharashtra remained the most affected state with the highest number of coronavirus cases in India, followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
