India’s COVID-19 case count rises to 47,000 in a single day

India registered 47,703 new positive COVID-19 cases on Monday taking the total confirmed cases in the nation until now to 14,83,983. Of these, about 4,96,988 are active cases as of now while 9,52,744 has seen recovery, according to the Health Ministry. The country reported 654 deaths on Monday taking the total deaths to 33,461.

Maharashtra reported 7,924 new COVID-19 cases yesterday to take the state’s total cases to 3,83,723. The state saw a record-high discharge of 8,706 patients on Monday, as the total number of recoveries rose to 2,21,944. With 227 more deaths, the state’s fatality has reached 13,883. Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 case tally increased to 2,20,716 on Monday, with 6,993 more persons testing positive for the infection

A total of 5,28,000 samples were tested for COVID-19 across the country on July 27, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said.
