India COVID-19 tally crosses 1.85 million; Monday spike at 49K

India saw 49,134 new positive COVID-19 infections on Monday taking the total case tally in the country to reach 18,552,64. 814 patients succumbed to the infection on Monday taking the overall deaths to 38,965 until now. The active caseload of the nation currently stands at 5,870,27 while the recoveries have surged to 12,292,72, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra added 8,968 new cases, taking its total cases to over 4.5 lakh on Monday. A total of 10,221 patients were discharged in the state yesterday taking the recoveries in the state to 2,87,030. Tamil Nadu recorded 5,609 new cases and 109 deaths on Monday.

Andhra Pradesh reported 7,822 new cases on Monday, taking the cumulative tally to 1,66,586. There are currently 76,377 active cases while 5,780 people were discharged in the last 24 hours taking the recoveries to reach 88,672. The death toll increased to 1,537 with 63 more deaths seen during the day.
