India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 26-lakh mark on Sunday, reaching 26,47,663 in all. As per the recent Health Ministry data, the number of COVID-19 cases reported across the country on Sunday was 57,981 while the number of fatalities was 941. The number of active cases in the country stands at 6,76,900 as of now having seen 19,19,842 recoveries and 50,921 deaths in all.
Maharashtra saw the highest number with 11,111 new COVID-19 positive cases. 8,837 discharges and 288 deaths were reported on the day. Total number of cases now stand at 5,95,865 including 1,58,395 active cases, 4,17,123 discharges and 20,037 deaths.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) announced that 7,31,697 samples were tested on Sunday.
Globally, 21,828,929 cases have been reported so far. The death toll due to the infection reached 773,114. The US (5,566,632) has reported the highest number of infection so far followed by Brazil (3,340,197) and India.
