India’s COVID-19 tally to touch 55 lakh shortly; Daily death rate remains alarmingSeptember 21, 2020 0 By FM
Even as the day’s spike in new infection cases shown a slight fall on Sunday as compared to the previous six days, India’s COVID-19 tally is set to breach the 55 lakh mark very soon. With 88,490 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, the country’s total caseload has already touched 54,866,25. Of this 10,100,25 cases are active and 43,886,61 has seen recovery. The total number of fatalities now stands at 87,939, adding 1,130 deaths reported on Sunday.
Maharashtra on Sunday reported its highest single-day recoveries after 26,408 patients were discharged to take the total number till date to 8,84,341. As many as 20,598 new COVID-19 cases saw the State’s total case tally cross the 12 lakh mark to reach 12,08,642. With 455 more fatalities, the state’s death toll climbed to 32,671.
Total samples tested up to 20th September are 6,43,92,594 including 7,31,534 samples tested yesterday, according to Indian Council of Medical Research.
