India’s COVID caseload crosses 58 lakh on Thursday; 1144 new deathsSeptember 25, 2020 0 By FM
India reported 85,919 fresh COVID-19 cases and 1,144 deaths on Thursday. With this, the COVID caseload in the country has crossed the 58 lakh mark to reach 5,816,103. Of this, 9,69,972 are active cases, according to reports from Health Ministry. The cumulative recoveries rose to 47,52,991, with 81,141 patients being discharged in the last 24 hours. The pandemic related death toll in the country now stands at 92,317.
Maharashtra reported 19,164 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to take its total case tally to 12,82,963, of which 2,74,993 are active. With 459 deaths, the State’s toll has touched 34,345. The total recoveries rose to 9,73,214, with 17,184 patients being discharged. “The State’s recovery rate has risen to 75.86%, while its case fatality rate is 2.68%,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr Pradeep Awate.
The COVID-19 tally of Andhra Pradesh has crossed the 6.5-lakh mark on Thursday with 7,855 new infections and 52 new deaths being reported in the 24 hours. The infection tally stands at 6,54,385 while the death toll rose to 5,558. As many as 8,807 patients recovered from the disease. So far, 5,79,474 patients have recovered and as of Thursday, 69,353 are undergoing treatment.
More than 13.80 lakh tests were done in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
