India’s COVID-19 caseload to touch 7 million soon; 967 new deaths on Thursday

India reported 70,824 fresh COVID cases on Thursday. The cumulative tally of the COVID infection reported in the country mounted close to 7 million reaching 6,903,812. The total active infections currently stand at 8,930,41 and there were 5,903,207recoveries until now. As many as 78,745 patients were reported as cured/discharged in the past 24 hours.  With 967 new deaths reported on Thursday, the total fatalities due to the pandemic surged to 1,065,21 in the country. 

Maharashtra reported as many as 13,395 fresh COVID incidences on Thursday taking the overall caseload to 14,93,884. Of the total confirmed cases, the active infection load stood at 2,41,986 as of now with 12,12,016 total patients being recovered and 39,430 succumbing to the infection. The state reported 15,575 recoveries and 358 deaths yesterday.

With 5,292 positive COVID cases reported on Thursday in Andhra Pradesh, the cumulative caseload rose to 7,39,719. The state now has 48,661 active cases with 6,84,930 patients seeing recovery and 6,128 lives lost to the illness until now. The state added 6,102 recoveries and 42 deaths on the day.

Followed by AP, Karnataka’s total caseload has reached 6,79,356 with 10,704 positive cases reported on Thursday. The total active caseload in the state stood at 1,17,143. With 9,613 patients testing negative during the day the total recoveries in the state rose to 5,52,519. While the overall fatalities mounted to 9,675 with 101 deaths reported during the day.

Tamil Nadu also added 5,088 new COVID incidences yesterday taking the state’s confirmed caseload to 6,40,943. The active cases in the state stood at 44,437 with 5,86,454 patients seeing recovery and 10,052 succumbing to the infection so far. As many as 5,718 patients were tested negative during the day while 68 lost lives to the infection.

Kerala saw a dip in its daily COVID cases on Thursday as the state added 5,445 fresh incidences on the day. With this, the total confirmed cases mounted to 2,58,851 with 90,579 in the active caseload and 1,67,256 being recovered until now. As many as 7,003 patients tested negative during the day while 24 patients succumbed to the infection. The overall fatalities in the state due to the epidemic rose to 931.

The new cases reported in the state included: Thiruvananthapuram (467), Malappuram (1,024), Kozhikode (688), Ernakulam (391), Kollam (497), Thrissur (385), Alappuzha (317), Palakkad (285), Kannur (377), Kottayam (231), Kasaragod (236), Pathanamthitta (295), Idukki (121), Wayanad (131).
