India’s COVID tally at 7.2 million; death toll reaches 1.1 lakhOctober 14, 2020 0 By FM
India reported 63,520 fresh COVID-19 incidences on Tuesday taking the total positive cases to 72,37,082 in the country till now. Of this caseload, 8,26,652 are active infections while 62,98,705 patients recovered. As many as 73,910 patients were reportedly cured/discharged on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the death toll due to the pandemic mounted to 1,10,617 with 723 more new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra added 8,522 new positive cases on Tuesday taking the State’s overall caseload to 15,43,837. Of the total cases, the active infections stood at 2,05,415. According to the state health ministry, as many as 15,356 infected individuals tested negative during the day taking the cumulative recoveries to 12,97,252. The death toll due to the infection stood at 40,701 with 187 new deaths reported yesterday.
The covid caseload of Andhra Pradesh stood at 7,63,573, as yet, marking the second-highest number of infections in the country following Maharashtra. The state added 4,622 fresh covid infections during the day. Compared to the total caseload the active infections in the State stood below 50,000 standing at 42,855. With 5,715 more patients testing negative during the day the total recoveries rose to reach 7,14,427. The total fatalities stood at 6,291 with 35 recent deaths.
Meanwhile, Karnataka and Kerala continued to report fresh covid incidences over 8,000 mark on Tuesday with 8,191 and 8,764 new cases respectively.
Followed by Andhra Pradesh, the overall caseload of Karnataka stood above 7 lakh at 7,26,106 seeing the third-highest number of cases. The active infections stood at 1,13,459 in the State with as many as 6,02,505 patients being recuperated to date. The total deaths from the infection in the state stood at 10,123.
The total caseload of Kerala stood at 3,03,897 as yet with 95,408 active infections. As many as 2,07,357 patients have seen recovery in the state to date, with 7,723 testing negative yesterday. The overall deaths from the infection have reached 1,047 with 21 new deaths reported in the State yesterday.
