India repors 45, 000 fresh infections; casecounts fall

India reported one of the lowest numbers of fresh COVID-19 cases at 45K mark on Monday for the first time in 90 days. With 45,490 new incidences of the viral infection registered yesterday the total case tally rose to 75,94,736 of which 7,476,22 are active infections as of now, according to the data from the Health Ministry. As many as 69,800 infected patients were reportedly cured/discharged yesterday pushing the overall recoveries to 67,30,617. The death toll mounted to 1,152,36 with 589 recent deaths.
 
Maharashtra reported 5,984 new Covid cases pushing its cumulative tally to 16,01,365. Of the total caseload, the active infections stood at 1,73,759, while the total recoveries have reached 13,84,879 and the death toll at 42,240.

New incidences of the viral infection continued to fall in Andhra Pradesh which reported 2,918 positive COVID-19 cases taking the total tally to 7,86,050. The number of active infections stood at 35,065 whereas the recoveries seen have reached 7,44,532 and the death toll stood at 6,453 by far.

Karnataka and Kerala reported new cases above 5000 mark at 5,018 and 5,022 respectively.

The cumulative caseload of Karnataka stood at 7,70,604 close to that of Andhra Pradesh marking the third highest number of COVID-19 cases. The active infections in the state stood at 1,06,214. As many as 10,542 patients succumbed to the virus related ailments while 6,53,829
has seen recovery in the state.

Kerala’s casetally rose to 3,46,882 of which 92,732 are active cases as of now. The total recoveries rose to 2,52,868 while 1,183 lost lives to the infection.

The overall number of global coronavirus cases has increased to 40,333,146, while the deaths have soared to 1,117,430, according to the Johns Hopkins University. The US is the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 8,210,849 and 220,095, respectively, which is followed by India and Brazil.
