India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 8.2 million with 45,928 new casesNovember 2, 2020 0 By FM
India reported 45,928 fresh COVID-19 positive incidences on Sunday pushing further the cumulative caseload to 82,29,322. According to the Health Ministry, the active COVID-19 infections in the country currently adds up to 5,62,329. The number of patients recovered from the disease has risen to 75,42,905 with 53,312 patients getting cured/discharged yesterday. The number of fatalities due to pandemic mounted to 1,22,642 in all with 491 deaths reported in the past 24 hrs.
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 5,369 new COVID-19 cases as opposed to 3,726 patients being discharged. The state’s total case tally stands at 16,83,775 while the number of active cases has risen to 1,25,109. With 113 patients succumbing to the virus, the death toll reached 44,024. The cumulative recoveries have climbed to 15,14,079 with the state’s recovery rate rising further to 89.92%.
“Of a total 90,24,871 laboratory samples tested thus far, 16,83,775 (18.66%) have returned positive with 57,000 samples across the state being tested in the last 24 hours,” State Surveillance Officer Dr Pradeep Awate said, adding that the case fatality rate currently stood at 2.61%.
Karnataka on Sunday reported 3,652 new COVID-19 cases pushing its case tally to 8,27,064 marking the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country after Maharashtra. As many as 24 patients succumbed to the infection on the day. The active cases in the state stood at 50,592.
Andhra Pradesh reported 2,618 new infections and 16 deaths on Sunday. The state has reported 8,25,966 cases in all of which the active infections under treatment add up to 23,668. The daily case positivity from testing 82,405 samples was 3.19% on Sunday. The overall positivity rate of 81.11 lakh samples tested to date remains at 10.18%.
Tamil Nadu reported 2,504 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the total tally to 7,27,026. The active cases in the state stood at 20,994 as the number of recoveries has increased to 6,94,880. As many as 30 new deaths took the death toll to 11,152. With 73,012 samples having been tested in the last 24 hours, the number of RT-PCR tests done so far stands at 1,00,29,222, according to the state health ministry.
“Tamil Nadu is the only state which goes entirely by RT-PCR testing. With laboratories in all districts, the state’s capacity is over one lakh tests per day,” Health Secretary J. Radhakrishnan said.
Over 7,025 COVID-19 cases were reported by Kerala, after testing 50,000 samples on Sunday. The total case tally has reached 4,40,131 of which 89,676 are active cases. With 8,511 patients getting cured yesterday the total recoveries took to 3,48,83. As many as 28 people succumbed to the infection on the day pushing the total fatalities to 1,513.
