India reports 29,398 confirmed cases; positivity rate remains high in KeralaDecember 11, 2020 0 By FM
The COVID-19 case tally in India has risen to 97,96,770, with 29,398 new cases reported on Thursday. The death toll has risen to 1,42,186 seeing 411 new deaths. The total recovered cases have reached 92,90,834 with 37,610 patients getting cured yesterday.
Kerala reported 4,470 new cases of COVID -19 on Thursday when 52,769 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The cumulative case burden of the state now stands at 6,54,041 cases. The test positivity rate remained at 8.47%, not showing much decline in disease transmission. As many as 4,847 patients were recovered yesterday. The active caseload of the state dropped further to 59,517 cases, while the cumulative recoveries rose to 5,91,845 cases, till now. With 26 deaths on Thursday, the COVID-19 toll has risen to 2,533.
Maharashtra’s COVID-19 tally on Thursday rose to 18,68,172 as it recorded 3,824 new cases. With 70 new fatalities, the state’s death toll has reached 47,972. A total of 5,008 patients were recovered yesterday taking the total recoveries to 17,47,199. There are currently 71,910 active cases.
West Bengal reported 2,801 new infections, 2,951 recoveries and 49 deaths on Thursday. The total caseload now stands at 5,13,752, of which 23,451 are active cases. The death toll has risen to 8,916 in the state.
Delhi witnessed 1,575 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 6,01,150. Also, 61 more deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 9,874. Of the total cases, 5,72,523 people have recovered and there are 18,753 active cases.
The positivity rate, which had crossed 15% in mid-November when the city was reporting more than 7,000 cases a day, fell to 2.5%.
