Overall new COVID19 cases continue to decline in IndiaJanuary 4, 2021 0 By FM
India reported 16,678 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, pushing the overall caseload to 1,03,41,291, the health ministry’s data showed.
India’s coronavirus active cases continued to go down. As per the health ministry, this has been possible due to recovery cases exceeding new cases and a low number of fatalities per day. The total active cases now stand at 2,42,579 in the nation. The overall recoveries have surged to 99,46,131 with 19,658 new recoveries recorded on Sunday. As many as 215 deaths from the infection were also reported on the day, taking the total number of fatalities to 1,49,686 till now.
Kerala reported the highest daily cases at 4,600 after testing 47.3K samples on Sunday, according to the state officials. The total COVID-19 cases reported in the state has reached 7,75,853, of which 65,277 are active infections as of now. As many as 4,668 recoveries were recorded yesterday taking the overall recoveries to 7,07,244. With 25 recent deaths reported the total fatalities have climbed to 3,142.
Maharashtra reported 3,282 new positive cases, 2,064 recoveries and 35 deaths on Sunday.
The total case tally has reached 19,42,136 and the death toll stands at 49,666. The active infections under treatment now stands at 54,317 with 18,36,999 patients getting recovered so far.
Tamil Nadu saw 867 new cases, 1,002 recoveries and 10 deaths from the infection. The total caseload now stands at 8,20,712, of which 8,127 cases are currently under treatment. The total recoveries have reached 8,00,429 and the total deaths reported stands at 12,156.
The total confirmed cases in Delhi stands at 6,26,872 with 5,044 of them being active infections under treatment. The city reported 424 new infections after testing 68.8K samples. With 708 patients getting recovered yesterday the overall recoveries have surged to 6,11,243. With 14 recent deaths the total fatalities due to pandemic have reached 10,585.
The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 85,489,058. While 60,443,211 have recovered, 1,850,202 have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, has 21,110,917 cases, and 360,071 have died from the disease there. It is followed by India, which has 10,341,291 cases, Brazil (7,733,746), Russia (3,236,787), France (2,655,728) and UK (2,654,779).
