India COVID cases close to 2.6 lakh cases; Maharashtra tally surges past China to touch 85,975June 8, 2020 0 By FM
With more than 10,749 people tested positive in the past 24 hours, India’s COVID tally touched 2,57,364 as on Monday morning. The number of active cases has also now risen to 1,26,523, while the ministry of heath and family welfare has claimed that 1,23,640 infected people has been recovered so far. There were 7,201 deaths reported so far in the country.
Meanwhile, a single-day spike of 3007 cases on Sunday set Maharashtra’s COVID tally rising to 85,975 surpassing the reported tally of China (83,000) yesterday. However, the active cases remained at 43,591 and with 1,924 patients being recovered on Sunday the number of recoveries till date becomes 39,314, according to the State health department. With 91 new deaths, the State’s toll reached 3,060 on Sunday.
The number of COVID cases in the national capital is now close to 29,000 with 1,282 new infections, while the death toll climbed to 812.
However, as part of lifting the lockdown has decided to open malls, restaurants and temples to public after 75 days of the nationwide lockdown today.
Globally the death toll exceeded 4 lakh-mark on Sunday with 400,013 fatalities as reported stated by Johns Hopkins University yesterday. Over 6.9 million people have been infected so far, of which 30 lakhs have been recovered globally.
