More than 27K new cases on Friday; India’s COVID tally at 8.2 lakh

A surge of more than 27,449 positive COVID cases were reported in India on Friday. The total confirmed cases reported in the nation stands   at 8,21,722 as of now. As per the data from the Union Health Ministry, about 2,842,87 of the total confirmed cases are presently active while 5,161,83 of them has been recovered. The total deaths reported in the country until now becomes 22,143.

Maharashtra reported as many as 7,862 new infections and 226 deaths on Friday. With  2,384,61 cases reported so far, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state followed by Tamil Nadu (1,302,61) and Delhi (1,091,40).

Other states which saw a high spike in the number of cases on Friday were Karnataka (2,313),Andhra Pradesh (1,608), Uttar Pradesh (1,347), Bengal (1,198), Gujarat (875), Odisha (755), Kerala (416) and Manipur (147).
