With 63,851 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in India on Sunday, the total tally rose to 22,14,269 in all. The active caseload stood at 6,355,24, while the recoveries continued to surge which now stand at 15,341,29, as per data from the Union Health Ministry. However, the fatalities reported from the infection surpassed the 1000 mark on Sunday to reach 1,007 taking the total deaths to 44,475.
Maharashtra reported 12,248 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the infection tally to 5,15,332, of which 1,45,558 are active ones as of now. About 13,348 patients have been discharged on the day taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,51,710. While 390 more deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities in the state to 17,757.
Andhra Pradesh recorded 10,820 new cases, which is one of the biggest single-day spike so far. The state witnessed 97 deaths due to the infection till Sunday morning. Meanwhile,Tamil Nadu registered 5,994 positive COVID-19 cases, on Sunday, .
