No reservation for Marathas in PG medical course in Maharashtra this yearMay 10, 2019
Maratha community will not have reservations for PG medical and dental courses in Maharashtra for this academic session, as the supreme court dismissed the appeal of state government challenging high court verdict which denied reservations.
The Bombay High court had decreed that the state governments notification released on March 8th 2019 regarding socially and economically backward classes (SEBC) quota in health science courses would not be applicable to PG dental and medical admissions as the registration process for NEET had begun on October 16 and November 2 in 2018.
The supreme court had refused to grant relief and accused the state government of allowing reservations in the middle of the admission process. The court had ordered the state to revise the merit list and extend the counselling for admissions by one week.
