India-Maldives MoU on healthcare training

The union cabinet has given ex-post-facto approval to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Government of India and the Government of the Republic of Maldives on cooperation in the field of health, signed on 08 June 2019.

The MoU covers areas of cooperation includingthe exchange and training of medical doctors, officials, other health professionals and experts, according to the union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar and union information & broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar.

It also includes areas of medical and health research development; regulation of medicines and medical products, and the exchange of information; communicable and non-communicable diseases and E-health and telemedicine.

A Working Group will be set up to elaborate on the details of the cooperation and to oversee the implementation of this MoU, the ministers said.
