The Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) has recently tied up with Omnicuris Healthcare, a Bengaluru-based technology, to introduce the facility of Online CME (Continuing Medical Education) for doctors registered in the state.
According to a rule in force from 2007 onwards, doctors are required to renew their MMC registration every five years, for which they have to undergo 30 hours of CME over a five-year period. Now, they can complete 10 hours through the online arrangement, while the remaining 20 hours have to be undertaken through the existing system. The facility would initially be available to doctors practicing in Maharashtra, but if doctors in other states also felt the need, they could write to the MMC and seek its concurrence. They would then have to register themselves with the MMC as well, said Dr Jayesh Lele, Vice- President of the MMC
